Yesterday me & my close friend Mr. Yogesh Chavan was on research tour for Maha Agri Network
(MAN), near Pune. We were on study of Poultry Project & management. We were
visited to Shindewadi Tal. Haweli Nr.
Urali Kanchan. We were visited to Mohan
Mahadik Poultry Farm in that village. A low land farmer with poultry farm. Where
we meet with Mr. Chandrakant Mahadik
the owner of the Poultry, he himself works on the project & for A to Z work
he personally looks in to it.
We were there for two hours & had a word with
him about poultry, poultry business, poultry management & poultry economy. It
was a great learning process for me. He was looking in to this business from
last 10 years & he is a platinum supplier for company in that area. He is
doing Poultry farming under a contract farming concept. From last 10 years he
is doing consistently good work in his business, and he is happy as well as satisfied
with his work.

He share clear view about poultry business, he said,
“This is the one of suitable, simple
& well earning business for low land farmers who are willing to work in
sustainable agriculture.” Reason
behind chose this poultry farming as business ,for question he reply, he was
inspire one of his friend who was already in this business and earning well. When
we ask him the motive behind to start this business, he said proper income
source in regular interval. He said today he is earning 40,000/- for every
45-50 days. It will help to sustain his family properly & help for agriculture
farm.
He is doing contract farming with one of the leading
chicken growing company in Pune area. He shares the initial investment cost for
poultry business, then the agreement as well as document process with company (Chicken
Supplying group). Also he spoke about management practices require for maintain
the poultry industry with medicine & vaccination for birds. Also he talks
about their feeding, water requirement, etc. The require infrastructure like
shade then water-electricity facilities & required climatic conditions he
discuss with us.
Then he come on the most important aspect of any
business i.e. Poultry Economy. In that he shares how company calculates the
cost of bird.as well as he explains the expenditure behind every birds it
include food, vaccine, transportation cost, cost of chickens. Today the
companies decide the 50/-expected expenditure cost for each bird for 45 to 50
days. In this contract farming farmer got the money per Kg basis. Also he spoke
about the insensitive structure for farmers. He said average 5 to 6 batches of
birds per year he supplies to company. The single batch content near about 4000
to 8000 birds. So average supply of birds per year should 24,000 to 56000. The weight
of 45 to 50 days birds is 2 Kg to 2.5 Kg.

anyone this business? , He replied & side,” I will”
Friends, I must say after meeting with such a successful
person in sustainable agriculture project, the sustainable agriculture always
play an important role for development of rural economy. And most of the low
land farmers look towards such project as a good earning source.
